A thermal transfer machine uses advanced technology for better results

The first thermal transfer machine for printing was developed in the early 1980s. Back then, it was considered a revolutionary technique for printing on surfaces, allowing for very detailed and exact imagery on a variety of surfaces. Companies in the business of marking objects quickly took note of the technology and have since developed it further without having the need to alter the actual printing method. By that, today a very precise and lasting print can be put on many surfaces including the plastic casings of wires and cables.

This is how a thermal transfer machine works

A thermal transfer machine draws its name from the fact that is uses thermal energy to create a print image. Its main feature is the printhead, which contains a large number of tiny dots, each of which can be addressed separately and then heats up to a pre-set temperature range. With that heat, the dots melt the color layer in the inserted ribbon, which in turn creates the print image on the object. This method enables prints on any hard or semi-hard surface and leaves the user the option to design individual print images if needed.

Using a thermal transfer machine to mark wires and cables

The technology of a thermal transfer machine allows for printing on a wide range of materials. That includes the plastic coverings that are used for wires and cables. With such a machine, they can be easily marked with any text or even symbols one may want. The machine does not require any specific knowledge or skills and can be smoothly integrated into the routine workflow of construction companies and other professionals without problems or challenges. By marking cables, these companies provide their customers with an extra layer of safety.

Your thermal transfer machine, your safety device

There are plenty of good reasons why cables and wires should be marked using a thermal transfer machine. The most important one of these reasons is the added safety it provides. In cases when workers need to access the wiring of a structure, for example for maintenance work, it is essential to know which cable runs to what outlet or device. This does not only save valuable time, but it is also a way to prevent accidents when wires are being confused and the wrong cable is being touched.

How a thermal transfer machine can save time and money

Take network cables for example. Experts know that there are plenty of different types of those and that it’s not exactly easy to tell the difference between them. But doing maintenance work in an office building doesn’t usually afford you the time for trial and error. Instead, all work should be completed as swiftly as possible so that downtimes can be avoided. Using a thermal transfer machine, all wires can be marked permanently to enable quick access to the right ones whenever that is necessary.
